WORTHY: A new mission merging sailors and giving

It’s our hope that the name Sailing for Veterans stirs curious, then countless thoughts of what it means to be an American war veteran and what it means to live under the blanket of peace we too often take for granted.

Thanks to tens of thousands of physically and mentally wounded veterans, we the free hold life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in our hands every single second of life. For this reason alone, THEY, without hesitation, need our thoughts, our prayers, our help and most of all our salute. For these reasons, the Sailing for Veterans regatta was created.

We will open our arms and our hearts and take this coming Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26) to let THEM know they’re not alone and that WE care. We will make Carlyle Sailing Association outside of St. Louis, Missouri their home and their place of applause. We will suggest and we ask you to contribute all you can to help make THEIR lives better.

We hope you’ll consider coming to the event (PHRF, Sport Boat and One-design courses) to race or just say hi and/or share in our meals and fun activities as a way to help raise money for this worthwhile cause; assisting wounded veterans since 9/11 through the charities we’ll donate to on the regattas behalf.

Whether sailor or sailor ‘wannabe’, current or past veteran, you can learn all about the event and register on-line right now at www.sailingforveterans.com.

As we move towards race day, stay in tune with the event by going to our Facebook page.

If you’ve been moved to make a donation, there’s a place to donate on the registration form, and thank you so very much.
