Oracle splashes second AC72

(April 23, 2013) – America’s Cup defender Oracle Team USA today christened and launched their second AC72 in a ceremony at their team base at Pier 80 on San Francisco Bay. Judith Sim, Oracle Corp.’s chief marketing officer, smashed a bottle of Moet across the bowsprit. The team later began the sea trials which were expected to last a few days. Team owner Larry Ellison was not at the christening. The winner of this summer’s Louis Vuitton Cup for challengers will face Oracle in the 34th America’s Cup beginning Sept. 7.
