Rambler, Rima 2, Ticonderoga among growing entries for Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race

Skippers from the across the United States and Canada are registering for the 363nm 35th biennial Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race. Rambler, the 90 footer that was first to finish in the 2009 race has joined the growing list of entries. Also recently entering is Snow Lion, a Ker 50 and Rima 2 an RP 55.

Ticonderoga, the classic 85’ L. Francis Herreshoff designed ketch is a perennial Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race favorite and will be entering this year. A truly stunning yacht, appearances like this preserve the race’s historic appeal and make it a fun for spectators.

A number of other notable entries include Kiwi Spirit, a 63-foot Farr designed round the world racer  based in St. Augustine, FL.; and Dragon a Class 40 from New York.  Several other of the exciting Class 40’s are also likely entries.

The race begins at high noon off Marblehead on July 7. Marblehead will be teaming with pre race activity throughout the Independence Day Weekend including harbor illumination and fireworks on the 4th of July. The race is sponsored by the Boston Yacht Club and the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and both clubs will host a round of parties and receptions throughout the event.
