EIGHT BELLS: Ken Gardiner

Published on September 9th, 2013

Renowned model maker Kenny Gardiner sailed his final voyage on September 3 (1948-2013).

“It sure has been a pleasure having known Kenny and his family and being able to sail all the miles that I was able to with him,” shared Dennis Durgan. “He leaves us as the #1 Model Maker on the Planet. What a Character he was!”

Ken, who was seen by many as one of the country’s premier model makers, provided yachtsmen with recreations of their yachts in exacting detail until his retirement in December 2009. It is that attention to detail that separated Ken from the rest.

Ken’ passion for model making came from the skills passed down from his father, which carried him through his 40 year career.

Celebration of Life service to be Monday November 18th, 2013 at Newport Harbor Yacht Club (720 West Bay Ave., Balboa, CA 92661) from 1100hrs to 1500hrs.
