Bayview Mackinac Race turns 90

Bayview Yacht Club, one of the most storied and historical sailing clubs in the world, has opened registration for the 2014 Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race. The 90th running of the annual race starts on Saturday, July 12 at 11:30a.m. on Lake Huron.

Boat owners who qualify for an early registration discount will pay $13.00 per foot, a $1.00 per foot discount on the standard race entry fee. The early registration discount will only be offered until March 1, after which all entrants will pay the standard entry fee of $14 per foot. To qualify for the discount boat owners must submit their application for a DRYA PHRF certificate (to DRYA), then register and pay the race entry fee by the early registration deadline. “It may be January, but it is not to early to start preparations for the 2014 Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race. We want to get racers excited about getting back on the water and thinking about sailing,” said Art LeVasseur, 2014 Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race Chairman. “Getting as many participants to register early allows them to get certified quicker so they can focus on preparing their boats and crews. Our goal is to make the race an enjoyable competition for all participants. The more boats that register early help make for more efficient administration of the race for competitors and the race committee.”

Bayview Yacht Club, founded in 1915, is widely regarded as the premier sailing club in Michigan and the Midwest. It has been hosting the Bayview Mackinac Race since 1925.
