Thistle Midwinter West

Twenty-five teams competed in the Thistle Midwinter West Regatta, held Jan. 30-Feb. 1 in San Diego, CA. When East coast teams led by Allan Terhune and Paul Abdullah were forced to retire from the sixth race due to a course error, defending champion David Tillson with crew John Fretwell and Eric Heim from the local fleet kept it close in the seventh race to take the title. Terhune finished second with Abdullah in third. Results.
