Eight Bells: Jack Dozier

Published on February 26th, 2014

John (Jack) Cowles Dozier of Deltaville, Virginia and Stuart, Florida, died February 13, 2014 after a 2 ½ year battle with colon cancer at the age of 67.

He is survived by his always supportive wife of nearly 45 years, Craig Patterson Dozier, and two sons Edward (Ned) Lee Dozier II (Lorrie) of Annapolis, Maryland and John (Skipper) Cowles Dozier, Jr. (Holly) of Mooresville, North Carolina.

Jack was a graduate and lifelong supporter of Christchurch School in Middlesex County, Virginia and Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. A lifelong boater, he was able to work around the water he loved as the owner of the Dozier Maine Group, which had a marina and brokerage in Deltaville, a marina in Urbanna, Virginia, and the Waterway Guide cruising publication. He was a member of the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club, Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, and Virginia Yacht Club, the latter of which elected him as their youngest commodore in club history.

A Celebration of Life is planned for spring at Dozier’s Regatta Point Marina in Deltaville. Date and details to come at that time. Additional information.
