Zeke Horowitz leads Flying Scot Midwinters

Published on March 19th, 2014

New Orleans (March 19, 2014) – When day two dawned for the Flying Scot Midwinters, it first looked like it was going to be a “start up … and stall out” kind of day when it took the 29-boat fleet more than an hour to get to the start line a mere mile from Southern Yacht Club. But after waiting around for another hour, the wind filled in nicely and the race committee ran three solid races in northeast winds of about five knots.

Boat builder Harry Carpenter won two of the three races while local Benz Faget won the third race.

After five races, Zeke Horowitz turned in the most consistent performance and gained the lead, with Paul Abdullah in second and Dave Bolyard, Jr in third. Six points separate the top five boats.

Racing will continue Thursday and Friday, with a total of eight races scheduled.
