J/24 World Championship returns home

The J/24 World Championship returns to its birthplace in Newport, RI to hold the 36th edition on September 22-26. Not held in Newport since 2000, 71 teams from 13 nations are registered to compete for the title. Countries on hand are Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and the United States. Among the field of competitors are past world champion skippers Tim Healy (’10, ’13) and Mauricio Santa Cruz (’06, ’07, ’09, ’12). Details.
