The Big Sail, hosted annually by St Francis Yacht Club, pits Cal and Stanford sailors against each other in anticipation of their big local rivalry college football game. The bands, cheerleaders, and alumns come out in force from both schools.

The 2014 edition was held November 18 in a light Northeasterly breeze and strong ebb tide, with the Varsity and young Stanford alums won their respective classes, and CAL won the Masters’ and Grand Masters’ (over 65) classes in the best of 3 match racing format.
