Fickle winds continue at Thistle Midwinters East

Published on March 3rd, 2015

St. Petersburg, FL (March 3, 2015) – The Thistle Midwinters East was looking more like Groundhog Day as the 43 boats launched for today’s racing in light winds and a morning fog over the city. But unlike Monday, the breezed filled in enough to complete two races.

The conditions were very challenging with patches of breeze becoming hard to find. Mike Ingham with crew Dan Fein and Sarah Paisley started their regatta on the right foot by posting a 1,2 and they hold a slim 4 point lead over the all-family team of Lloyd, Carol and Doug Kitchin.

PRO Todd Fedyszyn did a great job to get the races completed between the major shifts and before the wind completely died out. His team from St. Petersburg Yacht Club were quick to move marks and shorten courses.

More wind is in store for the rest of the week. Ten races are scheduled through March 6.
