Code Green: Newport to Bermuda Record

Published on April 18th, 2015

The 105-foot maxi-trimaran Lending Club 2 is in the starting blocks to attempt to break the Newport to Bermuda Record, with a suitable weather forecast calling for a departure time between Saturday night and Sunday morning (Apr18-19). Ideal conditions of moderate breeze (15-20 knots) and a small swell allow the boat to reach top speed while maintaining control.

The Lending Club Sailing team: Co-skippers Renaud Laplanche (FRA/USA) and Ryan Breymaier (USA), who is also the Project Manager; Captain Jan Majer (USA); Navigator Boris Herrman (GER); Roland Jourdain (FRA); Jean-Baptiste Le Vaillant (FRA); Stanislas Delbarre (FRA) and Quin Bisset (NZL) who handles onboard media.

Current record holder is the 125-foot Playstation which in January 2000 covered the 635 mile course in 1d 14h 35m 53s.
