Serious injury mars Volvo Ocean Race finale

The woman injured near the starting area of the final leg for the Volvo Ocean Race has had her leg amputated. The incident occurred prior to the start in Lorient, France on June 16, where the 40-meter maxi trimaran Spindrift 2 ran into a RIB under the authority of the race organization. The woman, 47, was one of four onboard the RIB when she was struck by the rudder of the trimaran.
