Burdick maintains lead at MC Scow Nationals

Published on June 27th, 2015

Pewaukee, WI (June 27, 2015) – Day two of racing at the MC Scow National Championship is complete with two more in the can for a total of five races. Winds were about the same as on Friday but tending more to the high side of the 8-15 range.

Again there was no set pattern to a favored side of the course so competitors had to be quick to recognize opportunities when they developed. Mark Tesar won race 4 and top youth sailor Frank Reeg from Spring Lake Michigan won race 5 in the back to back schedule. Unfortunately the afternoon race never got traction as the fleet waited patiently on the water for over an hour hoping for the 60 degree wind shifts to settle down.

Posting a 2-2, local Andy Burdick continues to lead the fleet with 11 total points, holding a 16 point margin over Clear Lake, Iowa’s Mark Tesar with Bill Draheim from Rush Creek YC (Texas) in third, 38 points off the lead.

Two more races are planned for Sunday but the forecast is for light air, putting into question whether the full schedule of seven races will be completed.
