Winners determined at US Youth Championship

Bristol, RI (July 10, 2015) – The final day of the 2015 U.S. Youth Sailing Championships completed two races among all five fleets, confirming the leaders that entered the day in four of the classes and emerging a new name in the Laser Radial. Sailing conditions offered 4 to 8 knots with light chop, under mostly sunny skies.

Winners are Richie Gordon (Laser, 9 races), Nic Baird (Laser Radial, 9 races), Mark Brunsvold / Anderson Brunsvold (F16, 11 races), Romain Screve / Quinn Wilson (29er, 11 races), and Will Logue / Bram Brakman (I420, 9 races).

The four day event was held July 7-10 on Narragansett Bay and Mount Hope Bay. The race schedule had planned for the Laser, Laser Radial and I-420 to sail up to 12 races, and the Formula 16 and 29er to sail up to 15 races.

The event was being used to determine the US Sailing Team Sperry Youth World Team that would compete at the 2015 ISAF Youth World Championships in Langkawi, Malaysia from December 27 to January 3.

The 2015 edition of the U.S. Youth Sailing Championships was hosted by Roger Williams University at the newly constructed Richard L. Bready Mount Hope Bay Sailing and Education Center, and supported by the Bristol Yacht Club.

Doublehanded Dinghy – International 420 (35 entrants)
Singlehanded Dinghy – Laser Radial (39 entrants)
Singlehanded Dinghy – Laser Standard (23 entrants)
Skiff – 29er (13 entrants)
Multihull – Formula 16 (5 entrants)
