New invitational regatta to launch in St Martin, French West Indies 28-31 Jan 2016

Marigot, St Martin (July 15, 2015) – The inaugural Caribbean 40’s Invitational Regatta announced today by regattaguru.com and Marina Fort Louis brings an exciting new event to the 2016 Caribbean circuit. Based out of Marigot, this one day practice/three days racing format on January 28-31 will provide close competition by being open only to invited boats meeting strict criteria.

“It’s racing under the CSA Rating System but with the feel of one-design,” said Deborah Miller, Director of regattaguru.com. “Boats in the 37 – 43ft class, such as the J/120, J/122, Swan 42 and Beneteau First 40, consistently provide some of the closest racing on the Caribbean circuit, so we’ve designed an event just for them.”

The racing will be held in the Anguilla channel. “Quick turnarounds, instant results, daily de-briefings and competitor feedback will give boats invaluable information to help them perform at their best, and get a head start on their Caribbean campaigns,” added Paul Miller, founder of regattaguru.com.

Competitors will share the same dock at Marina Fort Louis close to the course and in the heart of Marigot. “We’re perfectly positioned to host the 40s Invitational Regatta,” said Herve Dorvil, Managing Director of Marina Fort Louis. “We’re delighted to be a part of it and look forward to making the teams welcome.”

Formal invitations will be issued shortly, but in anticipation regular Caribbean competitor Brad Boston has already chartered “Arthur”, UK Solent-based Britannia Events’ brand new Beneteau First 40, to be captained by Chris ‘Jacko’ Jackson.

“Team Boston can’t wait to take on some of our favourite competitors in this new 40’s event,” said Brad, throwing down the gauntlet. “It’s going to be fun – competition at its very best.”
