Published on July 23rd, 2015

Chicago, IL (July 23, 2015) – Chicago Match Race Center’s Summer Invitational doubleheader begins today with eight teams set to compete in each regatta and six of those teams will sail in both the A and B events.

The skipper with the highest combined-event score will earn an invitation to the Chicago Match Cup Grand Slam Grade 2 next month. The first of two consecutive 2-day events, the Summer Invitational A, will be sailed Thursday and Friday (July 23-24), and the Summer Invitational B will take place Saturday and Sunday (July 25-26).

With more than half of the skippers ranked in the top 100 ISAF World Rankings, the three highest ranked teams – David Storrs, Steve Lowery and Don Wilson – have all won regattas in the Tom 28’s at CMRC in the last year.

The Summer Invitational A Event will feature: David Storrs from Southport, Connecticut; Steve Lowery from Chicago; Don Wilson from Chicago; David Niemann from Wisconsin; Nevin Snow from San Diego; Charlie Lalumiere from Falmouth, Maine; Landon Gardner from Toronto; and Val Smith from Wilmette, IL.

The Summer Invitational B event will see Evan Jahn from Chicago and Josh Kim from South Korea come in to replace Don Wilson and Val Smith.
