Malin Burnham takes over Masters lead

San Diego, CA (October 24, 2015) – The second day of the 2015 International Masters Regatta started with sunny skies and glassy water. After a brief postponement on the water, racing started near 12:30 pm with about 6 knots of breeze.

Augie Diaz led the group for the first windward mark rounding but fell behind as Malin Burnham took the W for race 3, followed by John Rumsey and Bob Fisher. There were some major wind shifts to the right as the breeze continued to fill in during race 4. This time, Don Trask took the number 1 spot as Burnham fell to second and Diaz redeemed himself in third. By the last race of the day, the wind was a steady 8-10 knots, gusting at 12. Leads changed throughout the course, but Chuck Nichols was able to secure his first win of the regatta, followed by Jon Andron and Augie Diaz again in third.

With three races and three different winners, the fleet is showing their skills as they enter the last day of racing tomorrow. At the end of day two, Malin Burnham sits in first place with 12 points, Jon Andron in second with 16 points and Sandy Purdon in third with 26 points.
