No Wind, No Racing at Finn Gold Cup

Published on May 10th, 2016

Gaeta, Italy (May 10, 2016) – There was no racing on the third day of the Finn Gold Cup as the light winds continued and got even lighter to the point that no racing was possible.

It was always looking like being the lightest day of the week and so it proved to be, with never more than 5 knots across the course area. After two hours of waiting around in the hot Italian sunshine, PRO Peter Reggio called it a day and sent the fleet ashore.

The forecast for the rest of the week is more encouraging with moderate winds forecast for the next three days. Three races will be attempted over the next two days to try and catch up with the schedule before the Medal Race on May 13.
