NOOD Tour Coming to Chicago

The Helly Hansen National Offshore One Design (NOOD) Regatta series returns to Chicago for its fourth stop of the season this Father’s Day weekend, June 16-19.

The Chicago NOOD will host three days of racing for one design fleets, with an additional day of racing specifically for the J/111 class which will be using the event for its North American Championship. Also, the North Sails Rally on June 18 will offer a handicap race on a 10 to 25 nm course.

The overall winner will be announced on Sunday, June 19, at the culmination of the event. Additionally, to recognize exceptional individual performances, premiere sponsor North Sails will present daily awards for the top three boats in each class, as well as a Local Boat of the Day award on Saturday.

The overall winner of the Chicago NOOD will be invited to compete in the 2016 Helly Hansen NOOD Regatta Championship on Oct. 22-28 in the British Virgin Islands. In addition to winners from each of the five NOOD events this year, interested sailors can charter and join the open class to race in the championship.

For the first time at the Chicago NOOD, the Helly Hansen Junior Crew program will select team of young local sailors to compete in the J/70 division this year.
