Global Celebration of Sailing

2016-06-16_12-57-41Can we get the whole world to go sailing? It can’t happen without you. This weekend – June 18-19 – is the annual Summer Sailstice, founded in 2001, as the global celebration of sailing held on the weekend nearest the summer solstice.

All sailors are invited to participate this weekend in whatever way possible.

Sailing the Newport Bermuda Race, the Hobie Storm Chaser Regatta in Iowa, or just heading out on an afternoon sail? Yes! All sailors can put their sailing plans on the map by signing up, hoisting sails and sharing in a collective weekend of sailing.

By simply posting your weekend sailing activities – race, cruise, open house, etc on the Summer Sailstice event map, you will help showcase the very best of sailing. The event generates publicity for sailing and makes sure all of sailing is visible.

As a bonus the site features, there’s an extensive prize list for signing up which includes a Grand Prize of a free, one-week charter from Sunsail.

This year’s Summer Sailstice weekend sign up deadline is midnight on Monday (June 20) with a solstice full moon sail. Wherever and however you are sailing this weekend, take a few minutes and make sure your club, fleet, class and sailing plans are on the map as part of the weekend celebration of sailing.
