MOD70 Capsize in the Atlantic Ocean

(July 17, 2016) – The MOD70 Musandam-Oman Sail skippered by Sidney Gavignet (FRA) capsized early this morning while racing the Transat Quebec-St Malo, a transatlantic race between Canada and France. The capsize happened approximately 450 nautical miles east of St Pierre and Miquelon, and the five crew have been safely transferred to a cargo ship and are in transit back to Canada. The team is currently assessing solutions for recovering the MOD70. The nearly 3000 nm race started July 10 in the St. Lawrence River between Québec City and Lévis, Canada and finishes at Saint-Malo, France. Race details.
