Newport Beach, CA (July 20, 2016) – Competition for the 12 teams resumed at the 50th Annual Governor’s Cup International Junior Match Racing Championship, with the mission of day two was to complete the four remaining flights of the first round robin and get as far into the final round robin series.

After staying perfect on day one, leader Nevin Snow (USA) dropped his first two matches to Sam Gilmour (AUS) and Harry Price (AUS) before finding his groove again to win the next two. It was Price’s turn to stay perfect, closing the first round 4-0 in the lead followed by Snow and Gilmour.

Price, the defending Gov Cup champion, remained perfect after two flights in the second round, with Snow and Lachy Gilmour (AUS) also at 2-0.

Following the completion of the double round robin stage, the top four teams will advance to the knock out rounds. With nine flights remaining, the teams vying to advance are Price (12-1), Snow (11-2), Sam Gilmour (9-4), William Dargaville (7-6), and Lachy Gilmour (7-6).

Hosted by Balboa Yacht Club, racing is scheduled for July 19-23 and is being held in the newly launched Gov Cup 22 sail boats designed by Club member S/C Alan Andrews.
