Beast-Mode at J/111 Worlds

Published on August 3rd, 2016

Cowes, UK (August 3, 2016) – It was day three of the J/111 Garmin World Championship, and with the wind speed starting in the 20 knot zone, the 14-boat fleet would have another full day as they set out to complete two races.

It took Bob Milner’s Island Sailing Club Race Committee three attempts, and a Black Flag, to get the fleet away for the first race which had Peter Wagner’s Skeleton Key taking the win. The wind speed was now well into the red zone as a southwesterly buster put the J/111s back in the 30 knot wipe out arena for a three hour coastal race won by Martin Dent’s JElvis.

After seven out of the scheduled nine races completed, JElvis holds a two point lead over Skeleton Key with Tony Mack’s McFly six points further back in third overall.

Racing is scheduled daily for August 1-5.
