Three in the books at Youth Champs

San Diego, CA (August 6, 2016) – All five classes completed three races on day one of the 2016 U.S. Youth Sailing Championships, hosted by Coronado Yacht Club with support from the San Diego Yacht Club. Sailors raced under clear skies in 12-16 knots of breeze from the west southwest. Racing resumes on Sunday and the championship concludes Tuesday in this four day event.

The Laser Radial, International 420, and 29er will be vying for a spot on the US Sailing Youth World Team and compete at the 2016 Youth Sailing World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand on December 14-20, 2016.

Lasers (singlehanded dinghy)
Marshall McCann leads Jack Gowan and Ford McCann by two points.

Radial (singlehanded dinghy)
Chase Caraway has the early overall lead and Talia Toland leads the girls division.

Techno 293 (windsurfer)
Geronimo Nores won all three races to take an early lead in the windsurfing division.

Wiley Rogers and Jack Parkin won all three races to take an early advantage in the boys division, while Carmen and Emma Cowles lead the girls division.

Neil Marcellini and Ian Brill have a one point edge on Ryan Ratliffe and Sam Merson. Louisa Nordstrom and Catherine Mollerus are on top in the girls division.
