Hurricane Matthew Forecast to Strengthen

(October 5, 2016; 05:00 PM EDT) – Hurricane Matthew is forecast to strengthen again over warm water north of Cuba, with the Bahamas and parts of Florida’s Atlantic coast, the Georgia coast, and coastal Carolinas potentially in line for strong hurricane strike. New hurricane watches have been issued for Georgia coast, and new tropical storm watches issued for Florida west coast. Stronger high pressure aloft persisting over the western Atlantic and East Coast of the US helps to trap Matthew close to the coast.
