Tight Racing at Melges 24 US Nationals

Lake Geneva, WI (October 7, 2016) – The Line Honors 2016 Melges 24 U.S. National Championship kicked off today, hosted by the Lake Geneva Yacht Club (LGYC) Forty seven teams have traveled to participate from all across North America and around the world to race the U.S. Melges 24 Class Association’s (USMCA) biggest event.

Four races were run today. Coming out on top after the four races is team Monsoon, skippered by Brucey Ayres, with crew Mike Buckley, Jessica Koenig, George Peet, and Jeff Reynolds. Their finishes today were all second places, giving them 8 points, 3 points ahead of the second place team.

In second overall, with 11 points, is team Air Force 1, skippered by Bora Gulari. Closely followed in third is team Embarr, skippered by Conor Clarke, from Dublin, Ireland. Clarke finished the day very strong, winning the third and fourth races. He is one point behind the second place team.

Racing is scheduled to continue Saturday and Sunday.
