Holz Wins Chicago Match Race Invitational

Chicago, IL (October 9, 2016) – Eight teams competed this weekend in the Autumn Invitational, the final event of the Chicago match racing season. The mostly Chicago-based field of teams sailed in Chicago Yacht Club’s fleet of Sonars.

Peter Holz’s Windy City Match Race Team, with crew Meg Six and Mike Whitford won the event.

Steve Lowery’ Shadow Racing Team with crew Jacob Bruce and Travis Cottle finish second.

After the round robin of 7 flights, Lowery was undefeated at 7-0, and Holz’s record was 6-1. Breeze was up this morning, but slowly faded as the day went on. After the Semi-Finals, Holz and Lowery were through to the Finals. Camarda and Johnson would sail the petite finals.

Andy Camarda wins the Petite-Finals and finishes 3rd overall. Mark Johnson took 4th place.

The finals came down to 2-2 before Holz won the final race.
