The Launch of Kite Park League

The Kite Park League (KPL) was created by the World’s best slider and kicker riders, and 2016 was the first year that wakestyle kiteboarding has had its own competitions series. In the past there have been individual park style events but a few of us had the idea to start the website, Kite Park League, to compile all of the results under one roof.

Collectively we have been pushing this side of kiteboarding for years, drawing inspiration from other board sports like wakeboarding and snowboarding. With the growing number of parks and events, we have decided to create an overall championship title that encompasses the major kite park contests around the world: the KPL Champion.

The 2016 season comprised of five stops:
January 13-19 – Orto Princessa, Palawan, Philippines
June 4-10 – Cape Hatteras, NC, USA
August 5-11 – Hood River, OR, USA
August 15-21 – Blaga, Russia
September 24-October 2 – Rhosneigr, United Kingdom

With a unified judging, format, and criteria we hope to push forward the discipline of park riding and push the level of the sport and media into the future.
