Rock & Roll Start to Laser Midwinters East

Clearwater, FL (February 23, 2017) – The Laser Midwinters East regatta is being held at Clearwater Yacht Club in Florida, February 23-26, 2017. Laser, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 competitors who are members of the ILCA-North America or their National Laser Class Association are eligible to enter the regatta. This event is a 2017 World Sailing Youth Championships Team Qualifier for Boys & Girls Radial Classes.

Three races were held today in the Laser 4.7 and the Laser classes, the 102 boat Laser Radial class sailed two races. In the Laser 4.7 class, there is a tie for first place, Michael Burns and Allison Weinbecker have 12 points each, with Burns winning the tiebreaker for the day. The 53 boat Laser fleet is led by Robert Davis, with 9 points. Joseph Hou has an impressive score of 2 points, winning both races in the Laser Radial fleet. Racing resumes on Friday.
