Twenty-two teams entered the biennial Newport to Cabo International Yacht Race which took the fleet from Newport Beach, CA south along the Baja California Peninsula to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Lloyd Thornburg’s MOD70 Phaedo³ took line honours and 1st in class during the 2017 Cabo Race, battling the ORMA 60 Mighty Merloe to see who would be first to the fiesta.

Monohulls (19) started the 792 nm race on March 11 with the multihull fleet (3) starting March 12, with all but six teams retiring due to light winds.
