New Los Angeles to Honolulu Record Confirmed

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has confirmed the establishment of a new outright speed record from Los Angeles, CA to Honolulu, HI. Lloyd Thornburg (USA) and six crew on the MOD70 Phaedo 3 completed the 2217 nm course in 3 days 16 hours 52 minutes and 3 seconds (24.95 kt avg) on May 12 to 16, 2017. The previous record of 03:18:00:09 was set by the 105-foot VPLP-designed trimaran Lending Club 2 in July 2015.
