Melleby/ Revkin hold lead at Star Worlds

Published on July 6th, 2017

Troense, Denmark (July 6, 2017) – Light winds welcomed the fifth day of the Star World Championship, requiring an 1 1/2 hour postponement before the wind speed (and the temperature) slowly increased and stabilized to 8 to 9 knots for the fifth race of the series.

After a general recall, all boats were lined up for a black flag start and the race was on, but not without some pretty big shifts on Lunke Bay. Finding the best route was Diego Negri and Sergio Lambertenghi of Italy who won the race with George Szabo and Patrick Ducommen (USA) in second and Heiko Winkler and Uwe Thielemann (GER) in third.

Regatta leader Eivind Melleby/ Joshua Revkin (NOR) and second place team Lars Grael/ Samuel Goncalves (BRA) sailed their discards today, but remain in 1-2 going into the sixth and final race.

With light winds forecasted and two more days to complete the final race, the schedule has been changed tomorrow with a layday now planned.
