Joyon Sets New Transatlantic Record

(July 12, 2017) – At the helm of the 31.5m VPLP-designed trimaran IDEC SPORT, Francis Joyon (FRA) has established a new solo transatlantic record when he crossed the longitude of the Lizard at 0137 hrs UTC this morning. Joyon set sail from New York at 2330hrs UTC on July 6, completing the North Atlantic crossing from Ambrose Light off New York in 5 days, 2 hours and 7 minutes (pending ratification from WSSRC), eclipsing by 49 minutes the time he had set in June 2013 of 05:02:56:10.
