Transatlantic World Record Ratified

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has confirmed a new outright singlehanded transatlantic record set by Thomas Coville (FRA) on the 102-foot trimaran Sodebo 4. From July 11 to 15, Coville covered the 2880 nm course in 4 days 11 hours 10 minutes and 24 seconds, an average of 26.87 knots. Coville beat the previous record set by Francis Joyon (FRA) on July 12 of 05:02:06:53.
