Storms test resolve of Caribbean

Published on September 19th, 2017

(September 19, 2017) – As Hurricane Jose continues on its slow trek off the eastern coast of the US, delivering dangerous rip currents and surf to coastal regions, conditions in the US Virgin Islands deteriorated this evening as Hurricane Maria’s ripping winds began to batter the Caribbean island, hours after the storm obliterated parts of Dominica and killed at least one person in Guadeloupe. The Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 165 mph will smash into the islands Tuesday night and Puerto Rico by tomorrow morning.
