Mother Nature is not a sailor

Published on October 22nd, 2017

Light winds across Chesapeake Bay played havoc to the 2017 J/80 North American Championship and J/70 Fall Brawl, held October 20-22 in Annapolis, MD. The 21 J/80s began their event on Friday, with conditions permitting three races. But it got ugly when the 16 J/70s arrived on Saturday, with no wind for racing that day and both fleets only able to complete one race on Sunday. Robert Sweet’s Vitesse won the only J/70 race, with Ian Moriarty’s Wild Horses surviving a three-way tie in the 4-race series to claim the J/80 title. Details.
