Favorite Yachting Bar Competition

Published on October 24th, 2017

It’s time to put your thoughts into words and send in your nominations for 2017’s Favorite Yachting Bar competition. Now in its ninth year, here is the past roster of winners:

2009 – Peter Cafe Sport in the Azores
2010 – Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke in the BVI
2011 – IYAC in Newport, USA
2012 – Sint Maarten Yacht Club
2013 – One Bar Playa Blanca in Lanzarote, Spain
2014 – King & Queen Pub in Hamble, UK
2015 – Plas Heli in Wales, UK and Pier View in Cowes, UK
2016 – Pewaukee Yacht Club in Pewaukee, WI

This is a special year for yachties and the bars they love. Many of the world’s greatest ones have suffered unthinkable hardship and devastation from hurricanes throughout the Caribbean. To honour those establishments that have been hard hit, some of which may not soon return, two awards will be presented this year:

Best Yachting Bar in the Caribbean
This includes bars both open and closed at this time.

Best Yachting Bar elsewhere in the world
This category is for currently operating establishments. Where you can go and personally celebrate their nomination or victory.

From all of the submissions, the top 10 bars – 5 from the Caribbean, 5 from elsewhere in the world – will be selected for a vote that will begin December 16. The winners will be announced on December 31 2017.

Here were the top ten nominees from 2016:
• Gladstone’s Long Beach, USA
• Happy Island Bar, Union Island, St. Vincent & Grenadines
• Pewaukee Yacht Club, USA
• Rochester Yacht Club, USA
