Volvo Ocean Race: Crew revealed for In-Port Race

Published on November 2nd, 2017

Seven teams will take the start of the Mirpuri Foundation In-Port Race at 14:00 local time (UTC) on Friday, November 3.

This is the second in the Volvo Ocean Race In Port Race Series. In Alicante, MAPFRE beat Dongfeng Race Team with Vestas 11th Hour Racing completing the podium.

The forecast is for moderate 10 to 15 knot southwesterly winds.

For that wind direction, the length of the race course is likely to be confined by the banks of the Tagus River, so Principal Race Officer Bill O’Hara is anticipating the course will be short, with at least three, and possibly up to four, laps. The target time for the race is 60-minutes.

The race will be broadcast live from 1350 UTC (0950 EDT) in the viewer below or on the race website and Facebook page.

As the crew lists for Leg 2 have not yet been released, the crew lists below for the In-Port Race are revealing as the rules require that the In-Port Race crew members shall have sailed Leg 1 (see crew lists) or will be aboard for Leg 2.

The second leg of the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race starts November 5 and is expected to take three weeks for the seven teams to complete the 7000 nm course from Lisbon, Portugal to Cape Town, South Africa.
