Ronning crushes J/70 Winter Series #2

Published on January 7th, 2018

Joel Ronning’s Catapult dominated the 53 boat fleet to win the second regatta of the 3-event Quantum J/70 Winter Series, held January 6-7 in Tampa, FL. Chilly but sunny conditions ranged from 8-10 knot breezes on Saturday to 16+ knots on Sunday, as three races were completed each day.

Ronning’s team of John Kostecki, Christopher Stocke, and Patrick Wilson posted all top five scores to win by 11 points over Bennet Greenwald’s Perseverance in second, with the first event winner Brian Keane’s Savasana a point further back in third.

The 22-boat Corinthian division was topped by Bob Willis’ Rip Rullah team of Matt Clark, Pat Hitchins, and Michael Whitford.
