Weathering the Australian Buster

The 2017/18 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race fleet has departed Australian waters for the final time in the 2017-18 edition of the 40,000 nautical mile round the world yacht race but no one on board will forget Leg 4 in a hurry.

Especially the team on Qingdao, who captured the arrival of one of Australia’s infamous Southerly Busters whilst racing off the coast of Queensland.

Here Qingdao crew members Chris Grant and Al Jay talk us through what it’s like to be caught up in the storm and why it will go down as one of their most memorable moments so far in the race of their lives.
