Testing Olympic equipment monopolies

Following the adoption of World Sailing’s new Antitrust Policy in November 2017, equipment to be used at Tokyo 2020 Olympics – Laser, Laser Radial, and RS:X – is being reviewed by World Sailing for violation. The status of this equipment, along with possibly the Nacra 17, will be further tested when an Italian law firm submits a filing to the European Commission antitrust authority in April which alleges strong evidence of a breach. The production of the equipment in question is monopolized by single manufactures.
