World Sailing Rankings

Published on September 22nd, 2021

The World Sailing Rankings seek to establish an order of ability based on the results of graded events over a 24 month period. The rankings focus on the 10 Olympic events and Open and Women’s Match Racing, though the accuracy of the rankings has been impacted by travel restrictions during the pandemic.

In match racing, Eric Monnin (SUI) is in first in the open division followed by Ian Williams (GBR) in second with Nick Egnot-Johnson (NZL) in third. Among the women, Pauline Courtois (FRA) remains at the front of the field with Anna Oestling (SWE) in second and Nicole Breault (USA) in third. Top North Americans in the Open division is Chris Poole (USA) in 12th.

The fleet racing rankings in which the North Americans are in the top 20 include Canadian Tom Ramshaw (10th, Finn) and from the USA are: Kirstyn O’Brien (1st, Forumula Kite), Charlie Buckingham (3rd, Laser), Stu McNay/ Dave Hughes (7th, 470 Men), Nikole Barnes/ Lara Dallman-Weiss (9th, 470 Women), Stephanie Roble/ Maggie Shea (10th, 49erFX Women), Pedro Pascual (11th, RS:X Men), Riley Gibbs/ Anna Weis (14th, Nacra 17), Andrew Molerus/ Ian MacDiarmid (16th, 49er Men), and Louisa Nordstrom/ Trevor Bornarth (20th, 470 Mixed).
