Cam Lewis - Commenting on the 33rd America's Cup

Cam Lewis, whose experiences in the sport span from winning the Finn Gold Cup to holding the Jules Verne Trophy record, to winning the Deed of Gift 1988 America’s Cup with Dennis Conner on the wing catamaran, is part of the commentating team for the Host Broadcast of the 33rd America’s Cup. Here are his observations from Valencia, Spain:

February 12, 2010 - Race 1

Heart stopping start, amazing race here today - it was a classic Match Race with all the drama anyone could have imagined.

Does Jimmy Spithill have a cross hairs pop-up window in his heads up glasses? Sure looked like it today.

Wing was King here in Spain, a royal success by the BMWO team. WOW is all I can say - higher and faster up and lower and faster down... myth busters in real life, now we know.
I hope all who can, can watch the race in any format - especially the highlights. Beyond Thunderdome! Fantastic displays of the best of the best ever in a sailboat race.

Let’s remember this is best of three series and if you have never sailed a super quick cat or tri on a reach like the ones we will see in race two, dial-up your friends that have and ask them what it is like.

If we get lucky and the wind gods shine on Valencia and the America's Cup for Race 2, with white caps and more on the water, we will see speeds and spray flying as both teams do all they can to fly down the reaching legs on the bleeding edge of control.

May the best and fastest team win this yet to be seen display of the coolest, baddest and most incredible sailing boats ever to come head to head in the duel of the decade.
