| Energy and optimism. This is what created the great city of New York. Manhattan Sailing Club was located one block from where the World Trade Centers stood but the club was able to return to it's home at North Cove and begin rebuilding. Last fall (2002), the club was involved in "Sail for America" on the one year anniversary. This year, the club focused on it's own sailing programs in an effort to return to normal. Every Tuesday and Wednesday from May through October an energetic mix of 34 racing teams would come down to the club docks filled with energy and enthusiasm. The sailing was great. We cannot change history. The towers contributed to our culture and their memory will inspire a new generation of Americans. And the skyline as it stands is beautiful. It represents a culmination of human civilization and shows how people working together can create community. The skyline of Manhattan is a national treasure. There are only a few such displays of civilization in the world. All that is missing is more sailing in front of this backdrop. We are working as quickly as possible. - Michael W.
