Scuttlebutt Photos: Geronimo in San Diego
(November 9, 2005) Geronimo is in San Diego to complete their final preparations prior to the start of their Los Angeles to Hawaii record run. Scuttlebutt was invited for a sail this day, which opened our eyes to what these large multihulls are all about. Photos by Craig Leweck.
On my first walk down the dock, I couldn't help but wonder if I was wearing the right clothes. Geronimo crew Cam Lewis assured me that the day would be dry and pleasant... but those sure weren't the images running through my head.
Maxi-boat Genuine Risk was also in town, and they had made their Raider 12-Metre RIB available to Geronimo. The crew on Geronimo had left by now, but the double 300 HP engines on this unit should be sufficient for us to track her down.

Finally making our aproach to get on Geronimo.
Now onboard and in the ocean, Geronimo easily gets up to 17 knots, doubling the wind speed as she quickly leaves Point Loma.
Not yet noon, the bows are aiming for Mexico, and I am wondering if there are plans for a lobster lunch rendevous south of the border.
