Scuttlebutt Photos: MedCup 05 - First Event

(June 5, 2005) Punta Ala, Italy- The format for the first regatta of the Breitling MEDCUP five event tour included six windward leeward races, one coastal and one long distance race. The seven boat Transpac 52 event was won by Caixa Galicia, skippered by Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, who ended this first event with a 4 point advantage over their closest rival, Atalanti XV, skippered by Paul Cayard. In the Corinthian Class for amateur participants, Bamabakou, skippered by Craig Healy, won the event against HM King Juan Carlos of Spain’s Bribon-Movistar.
