William Tuthill reminds us that while Newport, RI might be a popular sailing spot during the summer, the weather gods dish out a legitimate winter during the offseason.   William L. Sandberg provides this images from the fall of the US Olympic and Paralympic Sailing teams, where members toured Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla, NY and then later participated in a fundraiser at the New York Yacht Club.    With the Star worlds being held in Miami, FL this coming April, there will be plenty of training time invested in Biscayne Bay. The Star Levin Memorial Cup regatta last weekend had 38 boats competing, with New Zealand’s Hammish Pepper and Carl Williams winning (center), followed by Flavio Marazzi/ Enrico Demaria (SUI) and Eivind Melleby/ Peeter Pedersen (NOR) in third. After nearly a year of engineering and planning with renowned naval architecture firm Sparkman & Stephens, Morris Yachts recently finalized their design work and confirmed the first order for the Morris M52, now underway at the Morris Yachts’ deepwater marine facility in Bass Harbor, ME.
