Scuttlebutt Photos: MEXORC - March 1-8, 2008 Banderas Bay, Nuevo Vallarta, MEX (event website) - Photos by Ralph Godkin  Blue Blazes looking for a weather mark during the 20-mile Governor's Cup race on Sunday March 2nd.  On Wednesday’s Lay Day, the organizers arranged for crews to match race on the IACC Charter Boats from Puerto Vallarta – AUS 29 and AUS 31.  Says Ralph Godkin who sailed on AUS 29: “It was surreal! There is nothing more beautiful, majestic, graceful and powerful than an AC boat. They are gorgeous to look at, and fantastic to sail. I couldn’t sleep the night before, I was so excited!”  Jeito, Wasabi, Ruahatu, and Blue Blazes line up for a start in one of Thursday’s Windward/Leeward races - under the watchful eye of PRO Bruce Greene on the Committee Boat.  Peligroso, Morpheus, Akela, and Pendragon IV race off the start line on Friday’s 30-mile Islas Marietas race.  Ernesto Amtmann and his crew celebrate winning their division, and third place overall. Ernesto was doing double duty, as Skipper, and also Chairman of the regatta! |
