The British speed sailing craft VESTAS SAILROCKET piloted by Australian Paul Larsen recorded the worlds fastest sailing ‘boat’ by attaining an average speed over the 500 meter record course of 47.4 knots (subject to ratification). On the following run whilst on target for the Outright world record it literally took off and performed the full ‘Donald Campbell’ in equally spectacular form flying over 30’ in the air upside down. -- Full report  Rima2, the Reichel Pugh 55 sailed by John Brim of New York, NY, won the 2008 US-IRC Gulf Stream Series Trophy. On the way to winning the 3rd annual Gulf Stream Series, Rima2 competed in the Ft Lauderdale to Key West Race, the Block Island Race, Newport Bermuda, the Ida Lewis Distance Race, the Acura Key West Regatta, the Acura Miami Grand Prix, the American Yacht Club Spring Series and Fall Series, the NYYC Annual Regatta, and the Storm Trysail US-IRC East Coast Championship at Annapolis Yacht Club.  Kaenon eyeware has a solid track record in sailing, plus their website is full of beautiful people... errr...shades. Even if this model no shows for this event, it is still a pretty wicked deal for the Kaenon glasses.  Not every day you get a photo of a Snipe leaping past its daggerboard. Photo by Fried Elliott. High speed of 20.3 averaged +/- 17.5/18 kts. Wind 32-38 true. This is as we are coming toward the leeside of San Juan Island. A picture says a thousand words.....we even made the jibe."
